NAIOP NYC February Chapter Meeting and Legislative Update

NAIOP NYC Members, led by Neil Tipograph, joined almost 40 other NAIOP Chapters to visit Capitol Hill and discuss key commercial real estate issues with our Representatives and Senators. At the February Chapter Meeting Neil reported back to the group on the visits and the impact our efforts will have on the Hill in the coming election and beyond.

What is the best advice you’ve ever received?
Someone once told me “If you do not step forward you will always be in the same place”.

What motivated you to get involved in commercial real estate, directly or indirectly and how has NAIOP helped you in your career path?
I started working for a shopping center owner in Orlando, Florida handling the marketing, advertising and events for a mall. Unfortunately due to the recession, I was laid off. I was so intrigued by the CRE industry I knew I wanted to continue working in the field and broaden my knowledge within the industry. When I left Florida and relocated to Washington DC, I was able to land a job working for an owner/developer as a property marketing assistant overseeing marketing initiatives for their entire portfolio. NAIOP NYC Chapter has really helped introduce me to industry leaders and educate me on the NYC marketplace.

What is your vacation spot?
Trinidad & Tobago and St. Martin

What is your favorite restaurant?
Bankok 54 in Arlington, Va.

What do you wish you had studied in school but did not?

Architecture

What are three things you like to do in your free time?
1.Travel
2.Travel

NAIOP NYC Sponsorship 2015

NAIOP NYC Sponsors play a vital role in helping our chapter carry out its mission to produce unique and innovative industry events that advocate our policy agenda to federal, state and local officials.

In 2014 we hosted an impressive calendar of events allowing members to participate in discussions and debates directly impacting our industry, and to expand their networking base and develop business opportunities. We were able to offer a dynamic program series featuring leading economists, public officials, policy advocates and real estate specialists. Our Chapter has taken its legislative agenda to City Hall, Albany and Washington, DC.

We appreciate your dedicated sponsorship that has made these achievements possible, and we look forward to delivering another strong program in 2015 with your continued support.
